Forbidden City
The Forbidden City is the symbol of Chinese culture for the Westeners. Just imagine old wise men transmitting an earthly but unattainable culture, whose wisdom comes from experience. After seven years of deep research and studies in order to evoke such a complex reality in a pen, Visconti has created a unique model.
“There was no greater pleasure than entering the Imperial Palace, where the theatrical and artificial mind of a great architect had created a nature far more subtle than the real one.”
Pietro Citati

MINIATURE GODS
We have represented our “Forbidden City” as being enclosed in a resin cage, which represents the sense of isolation and prohibition that still surrounds this holy place. Through the cage we glimpse the divinities: The Dragon, The Phoenix, The Lion and others, recreated in various representations, as they are really displayed inside the palaces. They are miniaturized, small sculptures made with “lost wax” technique to evoke this fantastic world.
4 PENS IN ONE
The cage and the miniatures cover a finely engraved base with a typically oriental decoration taken from the friezes of the Forbidden City. Inside this decoration there is a working part to screw and unscrew the cap and support the whole pen. It is like making four pens in one: one external (the cage), one intermediate (the base), one internal (the working part) and one decorated (the miniatures).
