“The Renaissance is not an era, but a temperament.”
The inventor of perspective is considered to be the architect Filippo Brunelleschi. Architectural practice in the Renaissance age changed drastically as the design phase became more important than the execution phase, which is why the architect turned into a prominent person in society and an intellectual. Among his most important works we proudly recall the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, begun in 1420 and finished in 1436.
DIAMONDS AND RUBIES
From the most ancient times, diamonds have always been associated to love and legends. The word diamond comes from the Greek word “adamas,” meaning “invincible,” and suggests the eternity of love. In fact, the Greeks believed that the diamond’s fire reflected the constant flame of eternal passion. The ruby has also always been seen as a symbol of life, longevity and unquenchable love. In the Middle Ages, the stone was thought to give the wearer divinatory powers.
