Opera Master Antarctica: the fascinating charm of contrasting colours16.06.2022
The Opera Master collections are an invitation to the discovery of awe-inspiring landscapes. The new edition of the series, Opera Master Antarctica, takes us to the distant South Pole where glaciers and ocean merge to create a limitless and untouched natural space.
The suggestive power of colours
Recalling the vast expanses of ice and water that alternate in Antarctica, Opera Master Antarctica is the new demonstrator collection that transports us to a mysterious and fascinating landscape. The vast expanses of ice and water that characterise this icy continent give us beautiful colour contrasts that vary between shades of white and blue. The materials and hues chosen for the creation of this writing instrument have allowed us to recreate the cold scenery of this unexplored region.
The transparency achieved through the pen’s demonstrator structure gives the impression of holding a writing instrument carved out of ice. The ink visible inside the pen evokes the ocean covered in sheets of ice.
An example of fine craftsmanship
Forged in semi-transparent white and blue acrylic resin, the collection, available in fountain pen and rollerball versions, recreates the light, materiality and atmosphere of this evocative landscape.
Equipped with sophisticated mechanisms, this demonstrator pen features the Power Filler Double Reservoir filling system and the practical bayonet closure. The pen features an 18kt gold nib made completely in-house, the iconic clip inspired by the Ponte Vecchio in palladium finished brass with bright blue enamel embellishments to match the colours of the barrel and cap.
The far reaches of the Opera Master collections
From the Antarctic frost to the warmth of the savannah and the crystal-clear Polynesian sea, the Opera Master collections take us around the world, reinterpreting breathtaking landscapes.
Inspired by the atmosphere of the archipelago of the same name, the Opera Master Polynesia captures the nuances of the earthly paradise dotted with lush vegetation, white beaches and crystal clear ocean so often represented by artist Paul Gauguin. Forged in acrylic resin to recreate the hues of Polynesian waters, the exotic-inspired collection also features a double barrel, bayonet closure and a transparent body that reveals the ink level. The nib, in 18kt gold, is entirely manufactured in-house and finished in a shade that matches the metalwork of the pen.
From the Pacific to the tropical African sun, the Opera Master also takes on the colours of the savannah, a silent landscape animated by the lives of lions, zebras, gazelles and elephants. Warm and iridescent, the landscape of this terrestrial biome varies greatly according to the season, ranging from shades of yellow to a thousand variations of brown. And it is precisely this chromatic association that the pen seeks to evoke.
This edition also features the iconic Power Filler Double Reservoir filling system and bayonet closure in its fountain pen version. The Opera Master Savanna is a demonstrator pen made with the turning technique. The semi-transparent acrylic resins in yellow, brown and white are carefully mixed to recreate the colours of the immense natural reserves of the savannah.
