The total black effect28.03.2022
Black, a timeless symbol of elegance, gives life to some of our most iconic writing instruments. The total black effect slims the lines of the pen and highlights its structure and the precious materials that comprise it. Versatile and universal, the black fountain pen is ageless and retains its charm year after year. This precious and symbolic object can be handed down from one generation to next as an emblem of a timeless passion for writing, character and depth of thought.
A spiral surrounded by a halo of mystery
Inspired by the powerful nature of the colour black, we started designing a new expression of high craftsmanship. The unmistakable spiral silhouette of the Divina collection, redesigned in dark shades, takes on a new mysterious identity. Extremely elegant in its essentiality, the new Divina Matte is a black fountain pen that revisits the iconic design of the Divina Elegance with a matte black finish that is minimal, contemporary and sophisticated. The satin finish embellishes the instrument, gives it an enigmatic and charismatic allure and a pleasant velvety texture.
Entirely forged in black resin, the Divina Matte collection is distinguished by metal accents in palladium-plated brass that perfectly match and enhance the splendid monochromatic effect. The nib of this black fountain pen, made of 14kt gold and finished in ruthenium, creates an elegant counterpart to the total black look. What makes this new creation practical and functional, however, is the Pull & Turn filling system, an indispensable mechanism for an incredibly smooth writing experience.
Like the fountain pen version, the rollerball incorporates the distinctive elements of Visconti’s writing instruments, such as the bayonet closure and the clip inspired by the Ponte Vecchio. The ballpoint variant, on the other hand, owes its great practicality to the twist mechanism.
A perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics
On our journey into fashionable darkness leads us straight to the Homo Sapiens Dark Crystal collection. Made of a mixture of resin and lava stone, this pen takes its colour from the unmistakable shades of Mt Etna. The peculiarity of this collection is its demonstrator structure that allows the user to see directly into the inner workings of the writing instrument. The transparent window that reveals the reservoir has a smokey effect that gives the pen a very contemporary look.
Here too, the desired effect is that of a chromatic continuum that slims down the writing instrument and enhances its fine technical and stylistic details. Unlike the Divina Matte, the Dark Crystal is equipped with the Power Filler Double Reservoir filling system that guarantees a long writing autonomy, preventing accidental ink leakage thanks to the two separate yet communicating chambers.
Functional and refined, the Homo Sapiens Dark Crystal fountain pen is finished with glossy black details and features an 18kt gold nib, produced in-house and carefully plated with ruthenium. These are the same elements that adorn the Lava Dark Age collection. Black is undoubtedly what defines the aesthetic power of this fascinating edition of the Homo Sapiens family. This pen comes in a linear and entirely monochromatic version and is characterised by a strong materiality, obtained from the fusion of Mt. Etna basaltic lava catalysed with resin according to a secret formula that creates an unbreakable, hygroscopic substance that is velvety to the touch.
A black fountain pen, with a futuristic design like the one of the Divina Matte, or a modern and linear silhouette like the one of the Homo Sapiens, is an absolute must-have. A timeless writing instrument of that nature shines in everyday tasks as well as in the most important moments. A black fountain pen is also guaranteed to be a successful gift because its colour combines so well with any other shade.
‘It took me 40 years to realise that the king of all colours is black.’
