Opera Master Savanna
One of Visconti’s latest collections takes us to the African savannah, one of the world’s most evocative landscapes, loved by zoologists and travellers alike. Opera Master Savanna, the new collection of travel pens by Visconti, available both in rollerball and fountain pen versions, captures the warm tones of the dry grasslands where lions, zebras, gazelles and other species roam freely.
Tropical inspiration
It’s not the first time that Visconti takes inspiration from Earth’s natural beauty or the atmosphere of an exotic destination for its pen designs. After the Polynesia collection, the Savanna collection also brings the colours of a dream landscape to the Opera Master line. Iridescent and silent, the savannah changes with the passing of seasons, from the yellow hues of the dry season to the brown ones of the rainy season. Opera Master Savanna, with its chameleon-like appearance, embodies the seasonal transition that characterises the fascinating African biome.
Forged using the turning artisanal technique, Opera Master Savanna is a splendid example of a demonstrator pen. The cap and barrel are made of semi-transparent acrylic resin in shades of yellow, brown and white, three colours that blend into each other to recreate the colour palette of the Savannah nature reserves.
A masterpiece in resin
Smooth and velvety to the touch, the parts in resin are embellished with a series of carvings and facets that make it comfortable and stable to handle. This plastic material obtained through a complex chemical mixing process, has been used for the creation of many Visconti lines.
Resin passes from a viscous liquid state to a solid one as it comes into contact with air, making it, for all intents and purposes, a thermosetting material. Waterproof, water-repellent and resistant to wear and tear, resin is free of toxic substances and lends itself very well to quick and easy surface cleaning to bring out its natural shine.
Refined finishes
The Savanna collection features some of the Florentine brand’s unmistakable elements such as the Visconti patented bayonet closure and, in the fountain pen version, the innovative Power Filler Double Reservoir filling system. The filling mechanism of the pen is revealed through the slightly see-through resin body, allowing the user to appreciate the intricacy of its inner workings.
But the distinctive features of this oversize pen do not end there. The brass metalwork is enhanced with a palladium finish. And to give the pen an immaculate and long-lasting shine, just like in every other Visconti collection, every part down to the smallest is expertly hand-polished by our most experienced craftsmen. This attention to detail is what makes our pens stand out.
The pen comes equipped with the Giotto nib, another element produced in-house in
18kt gold and finished in palladium. The clip, with the same finish, recalls the Ponte Vecchio and features a bright yellow enamelling that stands out from the rest of the metalwork, echoing the nuances of the cap and barrel.
