THE NEW WORLD
He was the first explorer to realise, during a voyage, that the newly discovered lands to the west of the Atlantic Ocean were part of an unknown continent which he called the ‘new world’, and which was later named America in his honour.
ICONIC ENGRAVINGS
Reproducing all the map on a pen was impossible, so we chose the Europe and America dials. To do them justice, we further improved the scrimshaw technique, introducing dots and light and shade in the handwriting: the result is exciting and equal to Vespucci’s journey. Some details, such as the caravel, have an almost pictorial quality of engraving.
